but using DeBug™ does! This should be an inherent part
of how the hospital provides health care. How can this be
achieved?

Executive commitment
The hospital Executive were totally committed and supportive
of the DeBug Infection Prevention Program.
Clinical leadership

Staff from the Infectious Diseases, Infection Control, Microbiology
and Pharmacy Departments played an active role in this programs
implementation throughout our organisation.
DeBug™ Infection
Prevention Program representatives
Health care workers with an interest in Infection Prevention
were recruited to encourage staff to complete the Hand Hygiene
credentialling package.
Education and ownership
Talking Walls - With the assistance of our artist, ward
staff designed Talking Walls posters to promote and reinforce
the new Hand Hygiene culture. This concept was adapted from
www.hopisafe.ch.
Hand Hygiene Learning Package all staff are now
required to be credentialled in Hand Hygiene by successfully
completing this interactive learning package.
Medical and nursing grand rounds were used as a
forum to raise the profile of DeBug™ and provide feedback
on its success.
Medical ward rounds provided an opportunity for
medical staff to promote leadership in the use of DeBug™.
Ward inservices provided ongoing support, encouragement
and rapid feedback of results.
